PARENTS RIGHT TO KNOW

As a parent of a student enrolled at Pineview Elementary School, you have the right to know the professional qualifications of the classroom teachers and instructional assistants who instruct your child.  Federal law allows you to ask for the following information about your child's classroom teachers and requires the district to give you this information in a timely manner:

  • Whether the teacher is certified to teach the subjects and/or grade levels the teacher is teaching,
  • Whether the teacher's certificate is a waiver or substandard certificate,
  • The teacher's academic major, graduate degrees, if any, and
  • The teacher's certification area.

If you would like to receive this information, please call Mrs. Cindy Stiltner.

Procedures in the Event of Bad Weather
2008 - 2009

The weather in South Carolina can be unpredictable, especially in the winter and early spring, but at times in the fall as well. Sometimes school is canceled, but sometimes the school day is delayed one or two hours. We do not want children waiting in the cold for a bus that will not come, and we do not we want children left at the school when no staff are there.

If there is a chance of ice or snow, Spanish-speaking parents are requested to listen to the Spanish radio stations

            WICI 93.9 FM             (“Radio Ritmo”)
            WQVA 1170 AM          (“Radio Ritmo”)
WCEO 840 AM            (“La Cremenda ”)

and/or to watch these local television stations for news bulletins:

            WIS-TV (NBC)           Channel 10         Cable station 3
WLTX (CBS)              Channel 19         Cable station 9
WOLO (ABC)             Channel 25         Cable station 5

Local television stations report constantly on school cancellations and delays. In addition to verbal reports, these stations display written lists of delays and cancellations of school districts and schools at the bottom of the television screen.

Look for “Lexington 2,” “Lexington District Two,” or “Lexington School District Two” or “Lexington Two.” You might see these words at the bottom of the television screen:

“No delay”               The school schedule will be normal.
“1 hour delay”          Classes will be delayed one hour, and the bus will
come one hour later than normal.
“2 hour delay”          Classes will be delayed two hours, and the bus will
come two hours later than normal
“Canceled”                The schools will be closed.

Please contact the school if you have questions.

Favor de buscar “Lexington 2,” “Lexington District Two,” “Lexington School District Two,” or “Lexington Two.”
